SPONSOR HIGHLIGHT

I.T. Worx is an invaluable Guild Sponsor, as they host our website, which means they keep it up and running. In 1996, Jeffrey Loy created a business to make his knowledge of full service, multi platform IT support accessible to his community.

In 2002, Jeffrey found the opportunity to establish I.T. Worx. He brought with him deep expertise in service and repair and added a high level of IT support for small and medium sized businesses, providing scalable solutions to meet growing needs.

Technology is progressing faster each year, and it can be hard to keep up. The idea is that as your company grows, I.T. Worx rises to meet your needs while never losing their personal relationship with you. They are your I.T.company!

I.T. Worx became Apple Authorized in 2004 and now has two locations, Winston Salem and Greensboro, making their services convenient and accessible. If you need a computer, help, or advice, please stop by and mention that you appreciate their Guild sponsorship.

Since I.T. Worx started over two decades ago, they have been recognized as pillars of the community, serving many needs not only across the Triad but across the country.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Volunteers Needed—Elementary Concerts Coming Soon

Each March, all third, fourth, and seventh-grade students in the Piedmont region experience the magic of live orchestral music through a dynamic performance by the full Greensboro Symphony. These Elementary School Concerts serve over 18,000 students from Guilford, Rockingham, Randolph, and Alamance Counties, as well as private school, homeschool, and out-of-county students.

This event is one of the Guild’s greatest opportunities to give back—a chance to inspire young minds and foster a lifelong love of music and the arts.

We need volunteers from 8am to 1pm at the Tanger Center on March 24, 25, 26, and 27 to help make these concerts a success!

Even if you can only help for one day, your support makes a huge difference. Sign up today via the button below!

EVENT RECAPS

Guild Meeting Celebrates the Love

Love was in the air at the Symphony Guild’s first membership meeting of 2026! From the table décor of lovely red and white floral arrangements to the heartfelt celebrations of Guild volunteers and successful projects to the energetic remarks of GSO Music Director Christopher Dragon, the gathering at the O.Henry Hotel Pavilion Room was truly exceptional. Special thanks to members Jan Cox and Bonnie Cienek and the wonderful Quaintance Weaver team for creating a truly memorable day.

Debbie Faircloth opened the meeting with an invocation focusing on the power of love in our everyday lives. Devoted and much-loved volunteers Laura and Paul Kilmartin were then presented with the Barbara Cone Award, the Guild’s highest honor, by President-elect Laura Lorenz. President Gigi Renaud recapped the success of the Guild’s signature fundraiser, A Notable Night in Rio by recognizing Co-Chairs Sheila Phillips and Charley Lanza, Honorary Chairs Laura and Robert Green, and the many committee members, volunteers and sponsors, whose time, talents and generosity made the difference. The November 22 event at the Proximity Hotel hosted more than 300 guests for an exciting evening of lively music and dance, delicious food and drink, and abundant prizes and auction items.

The annual Symphony Presentation Ball held at the Grandover Resort in December provided a beautiful evening for the eight debutantes presented, their families and friends and the Guild members in attendance. Kim Littrell served as Honorary Chair; Paul Kilmartin as Master of Ceremonies; and Brooke Fields as Presentation Ball Chair. Steering Committee Chair Vanessa Skenes led an impressive group of volunteers.

Upcoming events for the remainder of the Guild year include:

And the always popular LOVE and MUSIC tournament on Thursday, May 7 at Starmount Forest Country Club, adding pickleball to the tennis competition this year.

Mardi Gras Party on Tuesday, February 17 at the Proximity Hotel, featuring free make-up sessions by Lancôme;

Sip and Savor Social at Guild sponsor Gia on Thursday, March 12 offering another opportunity for fun and fellowship;

Spring Fling on Wednesday, April 15 at Guild sponsor Steinway Piano, presenting a mid-week, music-filled event;

LOVE and TENNIS Co-Chairs Sherri Hill and Nancye Milam and their crew of volunteers are organizing the fun play and celebration luncheon which features great prizes. This event has traditionally included many community participants to help the Guild in its mission of promoting music education and appreciation.

The meeting concluded with Chris Dragon’s informative presentation of upcoming GSO performances including a special Valentine’s Day program. Under Dragon’s direction, the GSO is experiencing a tremendous year, reaching new and diverse audiences with an array of outstanding guest performers and a wide spectrum of musical genres.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Gigi announced the upcoming retirement of Executive Assistant Mary Rush, whose love and service to the Guild will be remembered always and celebrated in May, and distributed a “love gift” to all members in attendance—copies of the 2025-2026 Guild Directory!

The Barbara Cone Award Winners Are…

The Greensboro Symphony Guild is proud to honor Laura and Paul Kilmartin as the 2025 recipients of the Barbara Cone Award, presented to individuals who demonstrate distinguished service in advancing music in our community and supporting the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra.

Laura and Paul’s connection to the Symphony began more than thirty years ago with a simple POPS concert date night and has grown into decades of dedicated volunteerism and advocacy. Laura joined the Guild in 2012 and has generously served in numerous roles, most notably with the Symphony Presentation Ball, including chairing the 2020 Ball during an unprecedented year. Paul has been an indispensable partner throughout, contributing his time, creativity, and woodworking talents, including handcrafted keepsake boxes for debutantes and donated items for fundraising events.

Together, Laura and Paul are passionate ambassadors for music education and appreciation, encouraging others to attend concerts, join the Guild, and support the Symphony through their time, talents, and generosity.

Congratulations, Laura and Paul, and thank you for your lasting impact on our musical community.
