Classics Celebrate at Wine & Cheese Reception

On April 17, President and CEO of the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, Lisa Crawford, was the guest speaker at a Classics Wine & Cheese Reception held at Well-Spring. Lisa spoke of the many education projects of the GSO, including those that are funded by the Guild. Most exciting is the new rehearsal space for our orchestra, which will host many other events and meetings in the future.
Our Classics group in the Guild consists of members who have worked in the Guild for many years. Some have been involved since its inception in 1964, and several have been active for 30 years or more. We are proud of this group who have led us through very important moments in our Guild life, contributing time, talent and money as funds are raised for music education in our community.
Many thanks to Peggy FollinEllen Taft and Anne Daniel for organizing this event and giving us a chance to hear from Lisa and spend time with one another.

A fun time was had by all at our annual Love ‘n Music Tennis Classic and Luncheon on Thursday, April 25 at Starmount Forest Country Club! The weather was great for fun social tennis.
Tennis players and lunch guests enjoyed a great luncheon, along with numerous door prizes and great raffle items. Our lovely models, President Elizabeth Heard, President- Elect Rhonda Bentz and Charley Lanza showcased beautiful spring fashion provided by Simply Meg’s. Our Lancôme ladies were there to provide special gifts for all.

A heartfelt thank you to all who supported our event, including our 2024 Grand Slam, Champion and Smash sponsors: Grand Slam – Friendly Pets, Harvey Wealth Management and Larry & Jan Keiner; Champion – Sherri Hill of Albert/Hill Team, John & Sue RileyRLR Wealth Management and Brooke Fields of Allen Tate Realtors; Smash – Julie BrennanJoan GlazerMarie HarrillBarbara KeyJoanne LaheyNancye Milam and Joan Stevenson.

Presentation Ball Committee Kicks Off 2024 Presentation Season

Our 2024 Debutante Committee met for the first time this season at the lovely home of Laura Wolf. We are so excited about the new season and especially the lovely debutantes our Guild will get a chance to meet throughout the year.

A lot of work goes into each event to prepare for the Presentation Ball. Many thanks to Laura for hosting and to Dawn CooperHolly Stewart and Gail Williams for chairing this beautiful event. A special thanks to Suellen Milton, who put together our annual folders. And so many thanks to this year’s ball chair, Donna Camp, 2024 Chair, and her wonderful husband Mitch, for working so hard together to bring this first official event to the Guild.

Debutante Mothers Meet at the Mothers’ Wine and Cheese Party!

Our Presentation Ball Mothers had a chance to meet with the Ball Committee at the lovely home of Jennifer Pitts. The “Wine and Cheese Information Session” was a chance to learn more about the Ball year and how things work within the committee. It was also a chance to meet this year’s Honorary Chair Carolyn Banks, Chair Donna Camp, Vice-Chair Brooke Fields, Mistress of Ceremonies Laura Green and the committee members and vendors who will guide them through each phase of this important year for their daughters.

Many thanks to Jennifer for the use of her beautiful home, and to committee members Dawn CarpenterAnnie Hadgkiss and Joanne Lahey for co-hostessing and creating such a beautiful event. We are off to a GREAT start and look forward to such an exciting year for our families.

Sponsor Highlight
More than a local monthly arts and entertainment publication, O.Henry Magazine is “The Art & Soul of Greensboro.” Inside each issue, you’ll find stories of the Gate City’s thriving arts community, curated homes and inspiring gardens, a dash of history as we look forward to what’s next — all told through an uncommon literary and artistic vision. The poetry, personal essays and humorous columns will find you, at times, wiping a tear from your eye, either from laughing so hard you cry or from being deeply moved.

Let’s extend a big thank you to returning 2023-24 Symphony Guild sponsor O.Henry magazine. Look for our Symphony Guild ad in the forthcoming September arts issue as a kickoff to the art season. Grab the latest issue, pour yourself a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and curl up with a magazine that’s as good for the soul as a meetup with a trusted old friend.

Sponsor Appreciation Night

Every year the Guild counts on our corporate and individual sponsors to help us raise money for music education in the community.

Because we are grateful, we celebrated them at our Sponsor Appreciation Party on April 18 at the home of Ginger and Haynes Griffin. The weather was perfect for us to enjoy the beautiful patio and flowers with music by Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra Honors Quartet.

Many thanks to the Griffins for opening up their beautiful home.
We hope you will renew your sponsorship next year and help us again to fund and promote music education for children.– SYMPHONY –
